This 2023-2024 alpine ski season looks like a killing game. In the men’s race, Marco Odermatt, who did not need that to get through the debates, saw three of his main opponents leave the race due to injuries: the Austrian Marco Schwarz, the Frenchman Alexis Pinturault and the Norwegian Aleksander Aamodt Kilde . The situation is a little reversed among the women, where the one who dominated, the American Mikaela Shiffrin, finds herself on the sidelines, which could also benefit the Swiss camp, Lara Gut-Behrami in this case.

Shiffrin injured her knee quite seriously on Friday during the first descent of Cortina d’Ampezzo (like Corinne Suter and Michelle Gisin on Friday, Joana Hählen on Saturday). If Suter and Hählen have finished their season (ruptures of the anterior cruciate ligament of the knee), that of the American is written in dotted lines. Forfeited for the two other races of the weekend in Cortina, she will also miss the giant slalom at Kronplatz (Plan de Corones) this Tuesday. The rest is less certain… Will she return from next weekend’s speed events in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (downhill Saturday, super G Sunday)? Will she wait more cautiously for the technical tests in Soldeu (Andorra) on February 10 and 11?
