Live ticker Ironman Hawaii: Patrick Lange fights for victory on Kona
Ironman Hawaii in the live ticker
1.30 p.m.: Before starting has Patrick Lange criticized the new format at Ironman Hawaii. The organizer is allowing twice the number of participants this year following the 2021 and 2022 races were cancelled. “I thought regarding it for a long time, but I found more and more negative factors for the doubling,” Lange told the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”.
Thus, more than 5000 participants instead of regarding 2500 participants are at the start. “If you look at how prices have been doing here in Kona, if you look at the incredible traffic that is here a week before the start, it just can’t be good to hold this event over two days.”
Before the race on Saturday (6:25 p.m.), Lange is holding back as usual. “I’m just not the character with full-bodied announcements and declarations of war. That’s not me. And it’s really difficult for me to position myself once morest the others. All I know is that I’ve won the race twice and I’m not hiding must. I’ve already proven that I can win in Hawaii. Others have yet to do that,” said Lange in the “Welt”.
Ironman Hawaii: Jan Frodeno is missing due to hip inflammation
1 p.m.: Two-time Ironman Champion Jan Frodeno won’t be there this year. The winner of 2015, 2016 and 2019 suffers from hip inflammation. He wants to end his career in 2023. “I hope that the whole thing will take a turn here,” Frodeno explained to the “world”.
“Of course you can talk yourself into something nice, and you have to do that. But for me it’s like that I basically work with ups and downs. I don’t even know how many comebacks I’ve had, but it’s my big and solid one Aim to have another one.” He would most like to “conjure up a really, really big race out of his sleeve. Because it hurts my soul.”

Ironman Hawaii: Last start for Sebastian Kienle
12.30 p.m .: Sebastian Kienle (Ironman winner 2014) will compete in Ironman Hawaii for the last time in his career. “I can approach the race quite freely now,” explains the 38-year-old. “But actually that’s not nice either, because it means I’m definitely not in the top favorite position here.”
“But I’m not completely without a chance,” said Kienle in a dpa interview. In 2019 he was third. “There have never been so many athletes who might be said to have a chance of winning the race. I’m still one of them, even if my chance is somewhere around five percent.”
12:00 p.m.: Hello and welcome to the live ticker at Sportsillustrated.de. The men’s race (professionals) starts on October 8 (Saturday) at 6:25 p.m. Next to top favourite Kristian Blummenfelt from Norway is also a two-time Hawaii Champion Patrick Lange (2017 & 2018) am Start.
American Sodaro wins women’s race
The American Chelsea Sodaro has won the Ironman Hawaii. In her first race in Hawaii, the 33-year-old won following 3.86 kilometers of swimming, 180.2 kilometers of cycling and 42.2 kilometers of running ahead of Lucy Charles-Barclay from Great Britain and Anne Haug from Germany.
Laura Philipp, another German, came in fourth. Without the time penalty on the racing bike, Philipp would probably have done even better. For Hawaii winner Sodara it is the most important success in her career. The American became a mother a year and a half ago and, following her baby break in June, competed in a triathlon in Hamburg for the first time.
1st American in 2 decades ????????@ChelseaSodaroyou are incredible! Congratulations on winning the 2022 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship.

Nets, who had a bad habit of relying on Kevin Durant, lost to the Heat, Yuta Watanabe played 21 minutes but could not appeal with 3 points-Basket Count | Basket Count
Ben Simmons as point guard without Kyrie doesn’t work
The Nets’ second preseason game of the season was a disaster to say the least. Kyrie Irving and Joe Harris, who participated in the first game, took a rest, and Ben Simmons, who played as a forward in the previous game, was in charge of point guard, but the playmaking did not go well and the offense stagnated.
“There were games where you had to go one-on-one once morest the defense, but now we’re different,” Kyrie said following the first preseason game. The pass flew around,” he said, but the Nets showed a completely different appearance on this day.
Against the Heat, where Kyle Lowry assembles the game as a control tower, the Nets did not mesh with team play, and the destination was a reproduction of last season’s bad habit of entrusting the ball to Kevin Durant. Durant scored 22 points on 8 of 12 field goals, but the positives of the ace’s performance were overshadowed by the negatives of poor team play.
Simmons is strong on the ball, but lacks ideas beyond that point, and second-place point guard Patty Mills is too sluggish to improve the situation. There was little left to see for the Nets following Durant walked off the court following 26 minutes with five minutes left in the third quarter and a 20-point deficit.
Head coach Steve Nash also has a bitter expression from beginning to end. “Durant dependence” is a problem that must be improved as soon as possible, as it was one of the reasons Durant requested a trade this off.
Yuta Watanabe got 21 minutes of playing time, but most of it was without Durant, which meant that the Nets weren’t on the wave, and he himself struggled to find his rhythm. 4 minutes play in the 1st quarter. He played with the defense with his quick pass work, which he himself was the starting point, and at the end, he dived under the goal and called in a pass to invite a foul, but he missed both free throws and might not score.
By the time it came back into play in the second half, it was time for Durant to step down. Detecting Jovic’s cut-in, he entered the help under the goal and scored a block shot, and assisted Dalon Sharp’s shot, which moved in conjunction with his own drive. He hit four field goals and suffered from shooting touches with no success, but at the end of the day Sharp, who gave the first assist pass, returned the kick-out pass. He took advantage of a perfect catch-and-shoot opportunity to score a 3-pointer and managed to stay scoreless.
Watanabe scored 3 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 blocks in 21 minutes of play. While the team was in a slump from start to finish, it would have been a big appeal if the flow of the game might be changed here, but that was not the case.
