2022 World Cup in Qatar: The list of teams qualified for the World Cup

It’s getting closer… After a scorching Tuesday when many headliners disappeared from circulation, the identity of all the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar (November 21 – December 18) is emerging a little more clearly.

Five African and two European countries have thus come to complete the already existing cast. If a European nation is still missing the total due to events in Ukraine, most of the final World Cup contenders will have to go through intercontinental play-offs. Global overview.

Africa area: 5

  • Ghana
  • Senegal
  • Cameroon
  • Tunisia
  • Morocco
Here, all the tickets have been distributed at the end of oh so deadly roadblocks. Compared to 2018, the cast is frankly modified. If Tunisia, Senegal and Morocco were already present in Russia, Cameroon and Ghana will rediscover the joy of a World Cup. Egypt, Nigeria and Algeria will therefore be missing.

North and Central America zone: 1

Officially, only Canada is guaranteed to be in the Top 3 of the final round of these CONCACAF zone qualifiers. Two other teams are in favorable waivers before the last day (United States and Mexico) to complete the trio guaranteed to see Qatar.

Note that the fourth of this Final Round (Costa Rica before the last day) will have to play an inter-continental play-off match against the winner of the Oceania qualifications next June (New Zealand or Solomon Islands).

Zone South America: 4

  • Brazil
  • Argentine
  • Ecuador
  • Uruguay
Here, the quartet was already known. Very serious during these qualifications, Brazil and Argentina had already validated the ticket for Qatar before this rally in March. They were imitated by Ecuador and Uruguay thereafter. In these qualifiers for the South America zone, it’s Peru, which will be the inter-continental barrage (facing the play-off in the Asia zone). In 2018, the AmSud zone sent 5 representatives to Russia: Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia and Peru.

Now only one question remains: who will face the South American representative in the intercontinental play-offs? Two teams face each other in a fourth round: the United Arab Emirates and Australia.

Zone Europe : 12

  • Denmark
  • Germany
  • France
  • Belgium
  • Croatia
  • Spain
  • Serbia
  • England

Portugal and Poland came to complete this Tuesday the European contingent which will send one more candidate. Wales, who have qualified for the play-off Path A final, are waiting to find out whether they will face Scotland or Ukraine, who will play their play-off semi-final in June after the Russian invasion in Ukraine.
