On the 19th, one day before the closing of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, Korean bobsled team Won Yun-jong (Gangwon Provincial Office) placed 18th in the men’s four-man first day race on the 19th.
The Won Yun-jong team, consisting of pilots Won Yun-jong, Kim Jin-soo, Kim Dong-hyeon (Gangwon Provincial Office), and Jeong Hyeon-woo (Korea National University of Sports), played the first and second rounds of the men’s four-man bobsled race at the National Sliding Center in Yanqing, Beijing, China on the same day, totaling 1 minute 59 With a record of 05 seconds, he placed 18th out of 28 teams.
The team, consisting of pilot Seok Young-jin (Gangwon Provincial Office), Kim Hyeong-geun (Gangwon BS Games Federation), Kim Tae-yang, and Shin Ye-chan (above the Korea National Sports University), placed 26th with a total of 2:00.05 in the first and second rounds.
Team Won Yun-jong won a silver medal in this event at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, so they expected a ‘miracle in Pyeongchang’ this year as well. However, the possibility of finishing the tournament with a no-medal has increased because of the far away results from the medal right.
The competition for the first place was narrowed down to two teams from Germany and Canada, who took seven gold medals in the sledding event alone. Francesco Friedrich’s team from Germany took first place with a time of 1:57.00, 2.05 seconds faster than Won Yun-jong’s team, Johannes Lochner’s team from the same country was second, and Justin Krips’ team from Canada ran third.
