200 km of road to assassinate a nurse

After several months of investigating the murder of a nurse, the London, Ontario police service now believes that the shooters may have previously stolen a vehicle in Toronto, 200 kilometers away, with the intention of committing their crime.

“Investigators have reason to believe that those involved in the murder of Mrs Marks are from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). They would have gone to London […] on September 9 and would have left [la ville] immediately following the crime,” the police said in a statement released on Tuesday.

On September 10, 2021, Lynda Marques, a 30-year-old mother and nurse, was riddled with bullets in her car as she arrived at her home shortly before 8 p.m.

Police shared a first photo of the suspects, who are still at large, on Tuesday. The police are therefore asking for the public’s help in obtaining information on the suspects and their movements on September 9 and 10.

The suspects left the scene in a black Volkswagen Jetta. It was allegedly stolen on September 5 in the Scarborough area of Toronto, the investigation learned.

The vehicle was found abandoned five days following the murder.

In a statement made to Toronto Starthe head of the London police investigation unit, Alex Krygsman, indicated that the investigators believe that the murder of Mme Marques would be a targeted attack.

“The details of the motive for the murder […] are part of the investigation, and investigators are not ready to comment on the details of the evidence,” he added.
