It is the historic jewel in the Traun Culture Park – the castle, which belonged to aristocrats, where workers lived, elementary school students were taught and once even housed the post office, until it was established as a culture castle in the spring 20 years ago following extensive renovations.
This anniversary will now be celebrated from May 31st to June 4th at the “Traun Castle Days”. With an offer that reflects the program that has been brought to the stage of the Schönbergsaal for two decades: “Classical music, solid world music, theater and children’s culture,” as Brigitte Brunner, the managing director of the culture park, says.
Stripping at “Ladies Night”
Marie Spaemann (cello, vocals) and jazz musician Christian Bakanic will offer varieties of pop, tango nuevo, European folk, classical music and jazz on June 1st. An operetta gala with Eva Maria Marschall and Markus Miesenberger will follow on June 2nd. On June 3rd, Timna Brauer will present a treasure trove of Jewish songs, on June 4th the Trio van Beethoven will make a guest appearance.
On July 27, the traditional Kulturpark summer theater will celebrate its premiere, which this year is being moved inside, to the Spinnerei. After their success with “Die Wunderexercise”, artistic director Alexander Knaipp and director Katharina Bigus are performing the piece “Ladies Night” in their own, modern Trauner version.
Written by New Zealand authors Stephen Sinclair and Anthony McCarten, the 1987 play is regarding unemployed men who get the daring idea of flashing for money. Bigus: “Due to the serious tone of unemployment, the whole thing doesn’t seem slapstick or clumsy, but extremely enjoyable.” (nb)
