The HUNGER FOR ART AND CULTURE campaign is 20 years old. It makes it possible for people with little money to visit many cultural events free of charge with the culture pass – from theaters and cinemas to concerts and exhibitions. Because everyone has a right to art and culture. More than 300 Viennese cultural companies are now partners in the campaign and the social network that issues the culture passes is large. Unfortunately, the number of people who need a culture pass in order to be able to participate in cultural life is still large.
More than 1.5 million cultural visits, which is the equivalent of around 200 tickets every day over a period of 20 years, were made possible through the campaign Hungry for art and culture made possible in Vienna alone.
It is important that many take part in the action Hungry for art and culture and know the culture pass and use it if necessary. That’s why there is now a small information campaign to mark the anniversary that aims to draw attention to the culture pass. 20 culture pass holders are the faces of the campaign. In one sentence they tell you what they like regarding the culture pass, how they like to use it and how much they need it.

Hungry for art and culture
With a culture pass, people with financial constraints receive free entry to 1,200 cultural institutions across Austria. Airan Berg from Schauspielhaus Vienna and Martin Schenk from the Poverty Conference initiated the “Hunger for Art and Culture” campaign in 2003. Hungry for art and culture in Vienna is supported by the City viennathe AK Viennathe First Bank and through donations.
