20 short films compete in the Hurghada Youth Film Festival

The list of short films scheduled to participate in the first edition of the Hurghada Youth Film Festival, in Hurghada, Egypt, includes 9 foreign films and 11 Arab films.

The list announced by the festival administration was as follows:

The participating foreign films are: “Two Boys” from Japan, “The Fixed Bike” from England, “The Language of Imagination” from Switzerland, “Anna Morpheus” from Portugal, “Lights” from Slovakia, and “Pione Pavilion” from China. “Don’t Forget the Champagne” from Brazil, “Broken Mask” from Nigeria, and “Afterlife” from Tanzania.

As for the Arab films, their number is 11, and they are: “Needle and Thread” from Sudan, “Photograph” from Syria, “The World is Wonderful” from Kuwait, “Abd” from Jordan, “Shrimp Boy” from Yemen, and “Galina.” “Mosul” from Iraq, and “Al-Munir” from the Sultanate of Oman, while two films from Saudi Arabia are participating, namely “Sulfur” and “Experience,” as well as two films from Egypt, namely: “A Message from Anonymous” and “What Happens in Nadine’s Life.” “.

The short film competition jury includes Russian director, writer and actor Roman Dorofeev as chairman, and actor Sabry Fawaz from Egypt and Saudi director and actor Omar Al-Jasser, Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Artists in Saudi Arabia, participate as members.

The festival had announced its celebration of the centenary of the first Egyptian short narrative film, the film “Barsoum Searches for a Job,” by director Mohamed Bayoumi, which is considered the first short narrative film to be made by Egyptians, as its director, author, producer, director of photography, editor, and actors are Egyptians.

It is noteworthy that the Hurghada Youth Film Festival is organized by the Funoun Foundation for Culture and Media, and includes more than one competition for long and short films, and graduation projects for students of specialized film institutes and academies, and awards a special award under the title of the Green Award for the best film that supports the idea of ​​preserving the environment.

The festival will be held under the chairmanship of Egyptian screenwriter Mohamed Al-Basousi, from the 21st to the 26th of this September, under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministries of Culture, Tourism, Antiquities, Youth and Sports, and the Red Sea Governorate.
