Just 20 minutes following the attack on a financial institution on Landstraßer Hauptstrasse, the 35-year-old was arrested without resistance in his getaway car, reported police spokesman Mattias Schuster. Luckily no one was injured.
The Pole entered the bank at around 2:55 p.m., showed a firearm and demanded money. He initially managed to escape with his loot. However, as part of the large-scale manhunt, he was stopped and arrested in Simmering at 3:15 p.m.
The robber still had his weapon and loot with him
The criminal had the weapon, a blank pistol, and the stolen cash with him. The suspect has not yet been questioned.
