Flood in Emilia-Romagna, the government immediately provides 20 million euros for “basic necessities”. The Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, chaired a video meeting today with Emilia Romagna on the emergency caused by the bad weather that hit the region. The meeting was attended – as stated in a note – by the Minister for Civil Protection and Marine Policies Nello Musumeci, the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council Alfredo Mantovano, the acting Vice President of the Emilia Romagna Region Irene Priolo, the Head of the Civil Protection Department Fabio Ciciliano and the Extraordinary Government Commissioner for reconstruction in the territories affected by the flood that occurred in Emilia Romagna, Tuscany and Marche Francesco Paolo Figliuolo.

During the meeting, “Meloni reiterated the Government’s solidarity with the population hit by the violent natural disasters of recent days and acquired the most recent information on the situation of the displaced and the progress of the relief efforts. Furthermore, the President assured that, as soon as the request for a declaration of a state of emergency from the Emilia Romagna Region reaches the Government, a Council of Ministers will be convened to allocate 20 million euros to meet the first needs and restore essential services, and that further funds will be made available following the assessments following the emergency”, explains the note from Palazzo Chigi.
