29,542 people were registered for the 20 kilometers of Brussels this Sunday, a race whose popular success continues year following year. The race counts on many partners and sponsors, including TotalEnergies.
The support of the historic sponsor was denounced by climate activists this Sunday morning, through several actions carried out along the route. For Adelaïde Charlier, an activist with the Youth for Climate association, Total has nothing to do with a family event like the 20 kilometers of Brussels. Greenpeace spokeswoman Carine Thibaut took part in the action with the same demand to stop sponsoring Total Energies.
The spokesperson for the 20 kilometers of Brussels, Carine Verstraeten, estimated for her part that the action carried out this Sunday “was not very fair play”.
