German Chancellor Olaf Scholz addressed Ukrainians on the occasion of the second anniversary of the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
“Borders cannot be changed by force,” Sholtz emphasized and assured Ukraine of further support. The chancellor also spoke regarding the need to strengthen the deterrence policy and strengthen defense in Europe. “Together with our allies, we must be so strong that no one dares to attack us,” Scholz expressed his opinion.
“Without security, everything else is nothing. Without security, there is no freedom, no democracy, no human rights,” the Chancellor noted, adding that NATO remains the best guarantee of such security.

Scholz admitted that in recent years the Bundeswehr “wasn’t given enough attention”, but that is now in the past. The government is investing 2% of GDP in defense for the first time in a decade. Scholz detailed that money will be allocated for new helicopters and fighters, frigates and submarines, as well as modernized infantry fighting vehicles. In addition, air defense will be expanded with missiles and drones.
In addition to Sholtz, other world leaders also addressed the Ukrainians. Among them are Canadian and Spanish Prime Ministers Justin Trudeau and Petro Sanchez, President of the European Council Charles Michel. They recorded a joint appeal to Ukrainians on the occasion of the second anniversary of the full-scale invasion.
“We admire your bravery and will be with you no matter what,” Trudeau said.
Two years of war in Ukraine
Today, on the occasion of the second anniversary of the war, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was pleased with the losses of the occupiers. An A-50 aircraft, worth more than $300 million, was added to the treasury of broken enemy equipment. It was shot down on the evening of February 23.
This morning, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, arrived in Kyiv on the occasion of the second anniversary of the full-scale war with the Russian Federation. Prime Ministers of Canada Justin Trudeau, Italy Giorgia Maloney and Belgium Alexander de Croo came to Kyiv together with her.
