Not just one, there are two players from Wrexham, a Welsh football club that took part in the Deadpool & Wolverine film. They are Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer.

The Red Dragons’ striker, Ollie Palmer, appeared as an extra in the film starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Palmer appeared in a brief scene in a bar when Deadpool invited Wolverine to join and fight with him.

Palmer’s presence may not be too eye-catching. However, if the audience pays close attention, the bearded man will definitely be seen.

In addition to Palmer, Paul Mullin is also involved in Deadpool & Wolverine. His role can even be said to be a little more crucial. The reason is, he plays a Deadpool variant, namely Welshpool. The audience does not have to have a hard time finding Welshpool’s presence in the film because he looks very visible in the Deadpool costume wrapped in the Welsh flag on his chest. Unfortunately, Mullin’s face is not visible at all in the film because he always wears his mask.

Ryan Reynolds himself has commented on the presence of the Wrexham players in his latest film.

“You may notice that one member of the Deadpool Corps is far deadlier than the rest. WELSHPOOL,” Reynolds wrote on his Instagram account while uploading a photo of himself with Mullin, complete with Deadpool and Welshpool costumes.

The presence of two Wrexham players in Deadpool & Wolverine was made possible by none other than Ryan Reynolds being the owner of the club.

Ryan Reynolds, along with fellow actor Rob McElhenney officially bought Wrexham in 2021. Before the two actors joined the club, Wrexham was struggling in the National League or the fifth tier of English football.

Two years after Reynolds and McElhenney arrived, Wrexham managed to move up to League Two or the fourth tier. After just one season in League Two, Wrexham managed to move up again to the third tier, League One.

Now, Wrexham is only two levels away from the English Premier League. It is not impossible, next season the club will be promoted to the Championship division or the second caste and a year later compete in the Premier League with big English League clubs such as Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal.
