2 persons who were bathing in the waterfall in Kuttalam were swept away and died; 5 people are missing

Coimbatore: Two persons were washed away and died under the waterfall in Kuttal. The cause of the accident was excess water. About ten people were swept away. Three of them survived. The search for the five persons is continuing.

The accident happened around 6 pm on Wednesday. The bodies of two people were found from a distance of one kilometer. The deceased have been identified as Mallika (46), wife of Vijaya Kumar of Perambur, and Panrutty Kalavathi (60) of Cuddalore.

Relatives informed the police that three women were washed away but they swam to escape. The search was stopped for the time being because it was night.

District Collector Akash, S.P. R. Krishnaraj have reached the spot. The collector recommended the government to pay Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
