The United Nations has warned that at least 870,000 people are in urgent need of hot meals in Turkey and Syria. In Syria alone, up to 5.3 million people were left homeless after the earthquake. About 26 million people are affected by natural disasters.

More than 32,000 personnel from Turkish organizations are participating in search and rescue operations, the Turkish disaster response agency said. In addition, 8,294 foreign rescue workers have also arrived in Turkey to assist.
