According to the police, they were seriously injured in their extremities, but their lives were not in danger. The background to the crime was initially completely unclear; the two victims from Chechnya were taken to the hospitals in Bregenz and Dornbirn. The police cordoned off the crime scene, around 200 local guests were questioned and taken out of the building.
Escape with a black SUV
The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. in front of the “Sender Club” discotheque on the outskirts of Lustenau. The perpetrator is said to have fled in a black SUV following firing the shots. The State Criminal Police Office is conducting the investigation.
An eyewitness said in an interview with ORF Radio Vorarlberg that three or four shots were fired from the street in the direction of the entrance. “Then the people were already lying on the ground,” said the man. It then became completely clear to him and his companions that the situation was serious. “We’ll be right back in the car,” said the eyewitness, who had recently arrived in the nightclub parking lot in his car. From there he and his companions called the police.
