SV Darmstadt 98 convinced once morest Hansa Rostock and climbed to third place in the table in the 2nd Bundesliga. Man of the evening was probably Rostock’s keeper Markus Kolke – involuntarily.

The strong “lilies” won the second division game on Saturday evening 4-0 (2-0) once morest the guests from the Baltic Sea and settled into the top group for the time being. The 14,120 spectators at the Böllenfalltor will remember the goal that made it 1-0 in the third minute.

Kolke had laid the ball down for a goal kick: while the 31-year-old captain’s eyes wandered left and right in search of a passing station, Phillip Tietz sprinted up and pushed the ball into the goal.

Kolke clearly acknowledged the error: “I think I’m looking a big tick too long to the left. That’s clearly on my cap. It’s incredibly annoying, but I know that it won’t happen a second time and you shouldn’t run into the dressing room crying.”

Kolke’s faux pas shocked Hansa Rostock

After the goal that looked back on the year, Darmstadt made it 2-0 through Marvin Mehlem (18th minute). Tietz increased to 3:0 (54th) – and following his double pack he played air guitar with the corner flag. Tobias Kempe made it 4-0 with a penalty kick (74th).

In the end, coach Torsten Lieberknecht’s team celebrated their third win of the season on matchday four and their first second-division win ever once morest Hansa. The Rostockers in turn missed the third success in a row. After falling behind early on, the guests had great difficulty fending off the onslaught of the offensive Darmstadt team. Immediately following the 0:3 Rostock’s Kevin Schumacher headed to the post.

Darmstadt travels to Hamburg on Friday (19.08.2022, 6.30 p.m.) on the next matchday, Rostock plays once morest St. Pauli on Sunday (21.8.2022, 1.30 p.m.).
