In both cases, nothing was stolen. During the second attempt, however, the perpetrators were disturbed by a resident of the house and a witness fired shots – no one was injured, the Lower Austria State Police Directorate announced in the evening.
Escaped without loot
The perpetrators were on the move shortly before 6 a.m. and blew up two ATMs in the local area. The explosion in the first bank caused significant damage to the building. They are believed to have fled without taking anything.
State Criminal Police Office investigates
In the second case, they were disturbed and also fled. According to police, a witness fired several shots during the escape. The unknown suspects drove off in the direction of the Czech Republic. An immediate manhunt was unsuccessful. The Lower Austria State Office of Criminal Investigation has taken over the investigation.
