Finland’s parliament is expected to approve it within a few days, and the process is considered formal, the Associated Press reported.
Accordingly, Finland will submit an official application for membership to the NATO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, and this will be done within the next week, AP predicted.
Finland, a Nordic country, was a member of the European Union (EU) and maintained its neutral status for a long time in consideration of relations with Russia, which borders Russia.
