1º de Agosto draws with Académica and loses two points at home – Jornal OPaís

In preparation for Girabola 2023/2024, regarding the eleventh round, 1º de Agosto lost two points yesterday at Estádio França Ndalu, in Cassequel, in Luanda.

Against Académica do Lobito, the military club did not go beyond a goalless draw, even with promises from the board, chaired by Carlos Hendrick, that the players’ salary arrears have been resolved.

Thus, the training of the Angolan Armed Forces remains in fifth place with twenty-one points, while students from the city of Lobito occupy ninth place with sixteen points.

The team led by Filipe Nzanza can only think regarding the second round of the competition, as they lost many points with draws and defeats at home and away. In fact, in round number fifteen, 1º de Agosto lost to Sagrada Esperança da Lunda-Norte by a goal to zero, a result that uncovered the team’s mountain of problems.

After the draw at França Ndalu, 1º de Agosto’s coach, Filipe Nzanza, said that the result was due to the four days off that was observed, as the schedule did not foresee the challenge.

“We only had one training session and it wasn’t enough to recover the team and prepare the boys better, because the information arrived in an adverse way, but we will continue to work”, said the coach.

In turn, the assistant coach of Académica do Lobito, Carlos Sambaka, said that the athletes had many physical problems during the ninety minutes at França Ndalu.

“That influenced the result, but it adds value to the point achieved once morest a team with technical and tactical arguments within the four lines”, admitted Carlos Sambka.

Desportivo da Lunda-Sul leads the National Championship with thirty-two points, while Petro de Luanda, long-time rivals of 1º de Agosto, is second with thirty-one. Sagrada is third with thirty points.
