1C Entertainment stopped supporting King’s Bounty 2 and removed the ability to buy the game in Russia

Yesterday in the Russian media was informationthat 1C Entertainment decided to downsize the development teams and move most of them to offices in other countries. Journalists suggested that we are talking about a gradual withdrawal from Russia, as in the case of Wargaming.

However, 1C Entertainment management later denied this information:

Unfortunately, the information in this article is not reliable. The management of 1C Entertainment decided to close two projects – SDP and King’s Bounty 2 due to the fact that these games did not reach the planned indicators. However, we will continue the planned porting work. King’s Bounty 2 on the latest generation consoles.

Employees have been encouraged to move to other projects, including new ones not yet announced, as well as games that we develop in collaboration with a number of international publishers.

The company continues to work as usual on several dozen new games, there is no connection with the “relocation” or “termination of activities in the Russian Federation”.

Nikolay Baryshnikov, CEO of 1C Entertainment

However, information about the termination of support King’s Bounty 2 also not pleasant. The plot of the game ended at the most interesting place, and the developers promised to release at least one plot add-on. Without a clear end to the story, the strategy will remain an unfinished piece of the game.

In all this history, one question remains unclear. If 1C Entertainment is not going to leave Russia, then why is the same King’s Bounty 2 unavailable to buy on Steam in our country? And why did the opportunity to purchase a digital key disappear from the official store of 1C Entertainment itself?
