Madison Kohout is a young woman who has lived alone since she was 17. She has faced many obstacles in her life and like all young people of her generation, she does not hesitate to share her experience on social networks.
It is, moreover, on tik tok, that she met the meeting that will change her life. As nothing happens by chance, Madison Kohout met Lori parker on tik tok. The one she nicknamed “her tik tok mom” quickly developed a maternal bond with the 19-year-old young woman. After spending significant time together, Ms. Parker suggested Madison look for apartments in Piggott, Arkansas to be closer to her. In her search for accommodations, Madison found one that she particularly liked. But that was without counting on a little surprise. The 19-year-old landed an apartment that matched her criteria following leaving Oklahoma, but it turned out that it was designed for people over 65.
About a week following moving into her new apartment, Madison realized something she hadn’t noticed before moving in. “I was looking around to see what I might do here, and saw the sign that said ‘Senior Living Apartments’ and realized I had moved into a retirement community,” Miss Kohout said in an interview.
When she found this apartment and signed a month-to-month lease, she had no idea she was moving into a seniors’ complex. “She knew I was 19 but never said anything,” Madison said of the owner.

Document your life and make it a story on tik tok
If the story of Madison Kohout made the buzz on tik tok, it is thanks to this tendency which pushes to auto parody and to document its life and its various experiments. Madison’s example has almost become mainstream on social media. In question, the pandemic. Since the end of confinement, the young people of Generation Z have become more and more nostalgic and do not hesitate to list and stage their daily lives. This trend of #maincharacter, which means you are the protagonist of a fictionalized version of your life, has over 5 billion views on tik tok. As the main character in this fictionalized life, young people may feel that they are living a life that has been taken away from them but also that other people care regarding them. So they feel less alone. This phenomenon is not new because in the 1960s, the American psychologist David Elkind used the term “imaginary audience” to describe the fact that an individual imagines and believes that people are watching and listening to him with enthusiasm. Author Olivia Yallop uses the “everyone is always watching me, and I’m always watching myself watching” paradigm. Especially since according to an article published on SLATE, documenting your life will not lead to more connection with others and will not allow us to feed the imagination.
By being focused on social networks to share his photos and videos, attention is divided on all these sequences and we are rather in a bubble and not in reality. We risk missing what is happening around us and no longer pay attention to what really matters.
