19-year-old arrested after stealing a Ferrari and leading a chase – Telemundo Atlanta

FLAGER COUNTY, Fla. (Gray News) – A 19-year-old man was arrested after breaking into a home, allegedly stealing a Ferrari and leading the man on a high-speed chase, authorities said.

According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, Johnathan Costa, 19, was wanted out of Rhode Island in connection with an armed home invasion when deputies were informed he was headed to Flagler County on Tuesday.

The sheriff’s office said Costa was traveling more than 100 mph on Interstate 95 after evading police in another county, so with the help of the Florida Highway Patrol, stop sticks were placed on several roads in the direction of the vehicle’s travel as deputies attempted to stop Costa.

The 19-year-old managed to escape, but with the help of several agencies in the area, they were able to track down the stolen Ferrari in a Palm Coast neighborhood.

Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said Costa attempted to conceal the vehicle by covering it with tarps at a friend’s residence, but the vehicle was still visible from the road.

After officers established a perimeter around the home, they made announcements for Costa to leave and shortly thereafter, he left the residence and was taken into police custody without incident.

Costa faces numerous charges including criminal entry, using a firearm in the commission of a violent crime and vehicle theft.

Costa is currently being held without bond in the Flagler County Jail.
