19 sites highlighted during the passing of the Flame

Starting May 8, the Olympic Torch Relay route will highlight 19 CMN monuments across France. The Paralympic Flames will shine in 7 CMN sites and gardens.

The Center of National Monuments is part of the sporting news by positioning itself as “a dynamic player” in the JOP 2024. Defined by the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee, the Olympic Torch Relay route will highlight 19 monuments from the Center of National Monuments to across France.

  • Wednesday May 8: Château d’If in Marseille.
  • Thursday May 16: the castle and the ramparts of the city of Carcassonne.
  • Thursday May 23: the Pey-Berland tower in Bordeaux.
  • Saturday May 25: Charroux Abbey (Vienna).
  • Tuesday May 28: Angers Castle.
  • Friday May 31: Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey.
  • Sunday June 30: Reims Cathedral.
  • Thursday July 4: Amiens Cathedral.
  • Sunday July 7: Château de Châteaudun.
  • Sunday July 7: Chartres Cathedral.
  • Sunday July 14: the towers of Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral.
  • Sunday July 14: the Pantheon.
  • Sunday July 14: the July Column, Place de la Bastille.
  • Monday July 15: the International City of the French Language at the Château de Villers-Cotterêts (Aisne).
  • Wednesday July 17: the Château de Vincennes.
  • Sunday July 21: Villa Savoye (Poissy).
  • Tuesday July 23: Rambouillet castle.
  • Thursday and Friday July 25 and 26: the cathedral basilica of Saint-Denis.

The Paralympic flame, following its arrival on the French coast in Calais, will be divided into 12 flames spread across the borders of France. They will symbolize the energy of the 12 days of the first Summer Paralympic Games in France: the day of lighting the cauldron on August 28, 2024 and the 11 days of competition. These flames will shine within seven sites and gardens of the Center des monuments nationaux.

  • Monday August 26: Chartres Cathedral.
  • Monday August 26: Amiens Cathedral.
  • Tuesday August 27: the national domain of Saint-Cloud.
  • Tuesday August 27: the cathedral basilica of Saint-Denis.
  • Wednesday August 28: the July Column, Place de la Bastille.
  • Wednesday August 28: Sully hotel.
  • Wednesday August 28: Hôtel de la Marine: Paralympic opening ceremony.

The CMN also wants to be involved in the Cultural Olympics. Between exhibitions around sport, choreographic and artistic performances, contemporary creations or sports workshops, the public will, for example, be able to discover:

  • Paralympic Stories. From sporting integration to social inclusion (1948-2024), at the Pantheon from June 11 to September 29.
  • Circassian arts at the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, May 31 (passing of the flame).
  • Dance show at the Château d’If, May 8 (passing of the flame).
  • Night show at the castle and ramparts of the city of Carcassonne, May 16 (passage of the flame).
