Destruction of imported frozen crab without owners (Customs Doc.)

Tanjung Emas Customs and Excise, in collaboration with the Central Java Animal, Fish and Plant Quarantine Center (BKHIT), PT Pelabuhan Indonesia, Semarang Container Terminal (TPKS), and PT Pelayaran Bintang Putih, have destroyed 1,850 cartons of imported frozen crabs.

This destruction was carried out on Tuesday (24/9) because the goods did not fulfill customs obligations within the specified time.

Head of Tanjung Emas Customs and Excise, Tri Utomo Hendro Wibowo, explained that thousands of cartons of frozen crab have been at Tanjung Emas Port since March 2024.

If there is no processing for 30 days, the goods have the status of uncontrolled goods (BTD) and are the responsibility of Customs and Excise.

After 60 days without settlement of obligations, the status of the goods changes to goods belonging to the state (BMMN).

“After receiving BMMN status, we considered efficiency, smooth logistics flows at Tanjung Emas Port, as well as the characteristics of perishable goods, so we decided to destroy them. “The destruction process is carried out by landfilling it at the Jatibarang landfill in Semarang,” said Tri.

Tri also added that this destruction is in accordance with regulations in PMK 178/PMK.04/2019 concerning Settlement of Goods that are Declared Not to be Controlled, Goods that are Controlled by the State, and Goods that Belong to the State.

He emphasized that goods that are not handled for a long time will become a burden on the port and can affect the risk of field availability.

“We are trying to build synergy with ports and shipping to resolve this problem,” he added.

Head of the Ahmad Yani Airport Service Unit BKHIT Central Java, Irsan Nurhantoro, also stated that his party together with Customs and Excise would oversee the destruction process.

“We will ensure that this destruction is carried out completely and that the items are not misused,” he stressed.

With this step, Tanjung Emas Customs and Excise shows its commitment to maintaining food and environmental safety as well as smooth logistics at the port. (Z-10)
