18-year-old Olympic candidate dies in diving accident

The 18-year-old from Tonga died in a diving accident final Saturday.

His father Darren Rice confirmed this to the information website Matangi Tonga, and his sister Lily Rice addressed the general public with a Fb publish.

The reason for loss of life is suspected to be sudden unconsciousness because of an absence of oxygen to the mind. Rice was found by different divers on the seabed beneath his boat. All makes an attempt to resuscitate him failed.

The US-born sailor would have represented Tonga on the foil race competitions held in Marseille.
