The 18-year-old from Meggenhofen was driving his car on Innviertler Straße (B137) from Andorf in the direction of Riedau. In the village of Jebing (community of Zell an der Pram) he came into the oncoming lane shortly before 11 p.m. and slid along the crash barrier.
The vehicle was lifted out and thrown over a sloping embankment. It ended up lying in a creek bed. The 18-year-old was able to get himself out of the car and back onto the road, where he caught the attention of a driver who happened to be passing by. He then informed the emergency services.
