American universities monopolize the first places. Africa: South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria and Ethiopia save the honor.

Then there are the American universities Berkeley (5th) and Princeton (6th) then the British Oxford (7th). A total of 39 American universities are in the top 100. The first non-Anglo-Saxon establishment with its 16th place, the University of Paris-Saclay lost three places compared to the 2021 ranking.

With only 18 universities, the African continent is the poor relation in the ranking. Africa remains in fact globally behind in this ranking. Only South Africa with 9 establishments, Egypt (7), Nigeria (1) and Ethiopia (1) manage to see their universities in the new ranking.
