Like Elephants have released “ThePast TheNow” – their new single of the decade.
The Austrian band has been creating cosmopolitan, pitchfork-oriented dream pop for a decade and is not unheard of internationally. The producer of this new song is none other than M83 guitarist and producer Jordan Lawlor, who got to know the band through Spotify.
So the tracks were sent to Jordan Lawler in Los Angeles.
The sound is reminiscent of The National with elements of dream pop, but also relatable Tomorrow never knows Also from the Beatles. DThe drums play a very present and commanding role throughout the song.
The booming psychedelic tambura sounds from George Harrison’s Revolver album Song are also echoed, giving the intro a psychedelic squint.
