Imagine traveling halfway around the globe in an electric car. Sounds crazy, right? However, this was the successful venture of Daniel, 25, who drove from China to Paris in his brand new Xiaomi SU7. A journey of 17,000 km that challenges common assumptions about electric vehicles, which we had the opportunity to learn about during an exclusive meeting in Paris.

When you meet Daniel at Place des Vosges, his youth is the first thing that strikes you. At just 25 years old, he is on the brink of achieving an incredible feat: traveling through eight countries in an electric car, from China to Paris. His vehicle of choice? A Xiaomi SU7, the latest offering from the Chinese electronics giant, which remains largely unknown on European roads.

And it’s safe to say that he went quite far. Very far indeed. Kazakhstan, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, and finally France: the SU7 covered the kilometers without (almost) any hassle. The only notable incident? A brief episode in the mud in Kazakhstan, where fishermen came to his rescue.

Of course, the journey wasn’t without its challenges. Daniel had to navigate various payment systems and invest in an expensive adapter (around 800 euros) for fast charging in Europe. He also faced some frustrations with specific charging stations, particularly those within the Ionity network.

However, overall, the results were impressively positive. Between Latvia and Paris (a distance of 2400 km), Daniel only needed seven charging stops.
