17-year-old British-Belgian pilot Mac Rutherford holds the record as the youngest person to circumnavigate the world solo in a small plane.
Mack completed the mission following traversing two oceans, five continents and 52 countries. Mark took off on March 23 this year and took 5 months to create history.
The plane flew across the African continent and the Gulf of Mexico en route to India, China, South Korea and Japan. He traveled over the North Pacific to Alaska before heading down the west coast of the United States to Mexico. From there, he flew north once more before heading down the east coast of the US to Canada and finally across the Atlantic to Europe. – The Guardian reports.
Mack Rutherford broke the Guinness World Record set by Travis Ludlow in 2021 at the age of 18 years and 150 days. Not only this, Mack even broke his 19-year-old sister Sarah’s record of flying an ultralight around the world in January 2022, making her the youngest person and the youngest woman to fly solo in a microlight. Two Guinness World Records were broken with Mac’s rock. Mack became the youngest person to fly solo around the world and the youngest person to fly a microlight aircraft around the world.
The 17-year-old achieved this feat by overcoming obstacles on the way. The teenager completed the journey by facing sandstorms and spending nights on an uninhabited Pacific island. Although his parents are British, Mac Rutherford grew up in Belgium.
