16,000 people were arrested in Saudi Arabia in one week

The Ministry of Interior said that 16,000 law violators were arrested in Saudi Arabia in a week. Among those arrested, 2,577 people violated the labor law, the ministry said. From February 16 to 22, 16,105 foreigners were arrested in the checks conducted in various provinces of the country. The Ministry of Home Affairs said that those arrested were those who violated residence, work and border security regulations.

9,551 people were arrested for violating Iqama law and 3,977 people were arrested for trying to cross the border illegally. 2,577 people were also arrested for working without an employer and engaging in work contrary to the occupation recorded in the Iqama.

393 people who tried to enter the country illegally were arrested. According to the Ministry of Interior, those who provide transportation, employment and accommodation to violators will be punished with imprisonment of up to 15 years and a fine of up to 10 lakh Riyals.
