The Austrian drove into a gully and released the snow slab himself, the police reported. His twin brother freed him from the snow following he was partially buried. The seriously injured man was then flown to the hospital in a rescue helicopter.
The avalanche also reached the slope below the gully and caught a 64-year-old skier. He fell but was uninjured.
