The Canadian clocked a time of 3:56.08 minutes, beating the previous record by 32 hundredths.
McIntosh is considered a swimming prodigy. Last summer she won the gold medals in the 200m dolphin and 400m individual medley at the World Championships in Budapest.
At the age of 14 she took part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo and finished fourth in the 400m freestyle.
