16 generals and 32 colonels-majors retired

The General Inspectorate of the FAR published, last Monday, a new list of generals that King Mohammed VI, Supreme Leader and Chief of Staff of the FAR, has retired. Al Akhbar reports, in its edition of Wednesday September 28, that it is regarding 16 generals of division and corps of army as well as 32 colonels-major and tens of officers.

The list includes senior officials from the FAR, the Royal Gendarmerie and other sectors of the army. The Inspector General of the FAR, Lieutenant General Belkhir El Farouk, will have to announce the list of new appointments in the garrisons and military positions whose officials have retired.

According to some sources, five division generals are affected by the retirement, including Abderrazak Boussif, the director general of the civil protection department. A general who did not last long, unlike his predecessor General El Yacoubi, who spent more than a decade at the head of this apparatus.

The daily Al Akhbar points out that the four other retired FAR major generals are Generals Hajjaji, Sahri, Mazdoudi and Othmani. The list of starters also includes 11 brigadier generals belonging to the FAR. They are Generals Abrouk, Boulahyia, Ouraich, Jamil, Jazouli, Achour, Karouaz, Hikki, Hamounaicha, Kanouni and Mesnaoui. It should be noted that no general of the Royal Gendarmerie has retired, although rumors have mentioned the name of Inspector General Mustapha Hamdaoui, who enjoys an excellent reputation.

With regard to other senior officers, the list includes 32 colonels-majors, four of whom belong to the Royal Gendarmerie. These are the regional commanders of Marrakech, Guelmim and Errachidia, as well as the commander of the eastern zone. The colonels-majors of the FAR concerned by this decision belong to the armored and infantry divisions, as well as to the artillery, cavalry, engineering and health sectors.
