The Changhua County Animal Defense Institute pointed out today that a H5N2 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza virus was found in a chicken farm in Erlin Township, and 15,804 chickens were culled; since December 20 last year, there have been 10 poultry farms in 13 days. Nearly 100,000 poultry were culled due to the outbreak of bird flu.
The Animal Epidemic Prevention Office of Changhua County issued a press release today stating that a chicken farm in Erlin Township had an abnormal death of chickens on December 28 last year. There are highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses of the H5N2 subtype.
The Institute of Animal Defense pointed out that the epidemic prevention personnel went to the chicken farms today to carry out disinfection and culling work, and a total of 15,804 chickens were culled. Since mid-December last year, there have been 10 poultry farms in the county. Bird flu outbreaks occurred, of which 7 were infected H5N1 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza virus; 3 field H5N2 subtype highly pathogenic avian influenza virus, a total of nearly 100,000 poultry were culled.
The Institute of Animal Defense stated that since last winter, the bird flu epidemic has been on the rise compared with previous years. It reminds the county’s poultry farms to continue to strengthen inspections and implement various biosafety measures on the farm, strengthen the disinfection of the farm, and strictly prohibit all poultry outside the farm. If any abnormality is found, the local animal epidemic prevention agency should be notified immediately to help clarify the cause.
