A 15-year-old was killed and three other people were injured in a broad daylight shooting Saturday in Stockholm, the police said, noting that the circumstances of the incident were not clear.

An hour following the incident, two men were arrested following a short chase in the south of the Swedish capital, according to the police.

The police reported a shooting in the south of the city and found two people with gunshot wounds.

There were two others nearby as well, one of whom died of his injuries. The three injured were taken to a hospital.

“The person who was killed was a 15-year-old boy,” a Stockholm police spokesman told AFP, adding that the circumstances of the shooting had not been determined.

On Friday, three people were also injured in separate accidents in the Stockholm area.

In recent years, Sweden has worked to stop a wave of shootings and attacks attributed to gangs settling scores in drug trafficking.

The country witnessed 391 shootings in 2022, 62 of which were bloody, compared to 45 in the previous year, according to the police.
