The survivors of the Alto Río building, which collapsed in Concepción following the earthquake of February 27, 2010, have still not been compensated 14 years following the tragedy, despite the fact that the civil trial ruled in their favor.

The construction company of the property, Socovil, gave the victims a vacant lot as compensation, but the land has a debt of more than 300 million pesos in contributions.

The debt is preventing the sale of said land, which is intended to finance the compensation corresponding to those affected, according to Radio Cooperativa.

“In order to carry out this liquidation, this sale, to be able to pay monetary compensation to each of the victims, a certain legal and administrative stage needs to be carried out to be able to clean up the property where this building is built,” said Enrique Hernández. , lawyer for the victims, to Cooperativa.

The Ministry of Finance has been formally asked for a “forgiveness” of contributions; However, that has not happened to date.

“There are people who have psychological crises, because they are older people. In 14 years people age, situations, illnesses, emotional things happen, so they are no longer the same as they were 10 or 15 years ago. “They are super unworthy situations,” Katy Hernández, survivor of the building, told Cooperativa.
