14-year-old speeds along federal highway on e-scooter at 90 km/h

A 14-year-old was driving significantly too fast on an e-scooter in Brand-Nagelberg (Gmünd district) on Thursday afternoon. The police pursued the youth, “reaching a constant speed of 90 km/h,” as announced in a press release on Friday.

The officers stopped the speeder. During a check, defective brakes were discovered. The 14-year-old was prohibited from driving any further and will be reported to the district administration authority.

E-scooter with serious defects

The youth from the Gmünd district had caught the attention of patrol officers because he was driving on the L62 at well over 25 km/h and had not kept a safe distance from a car in front of him. It turned out that the 14-year-old did not have the driving license required for this model. In addition, the e-scooter was not registered and also had a defect that posed a risk of imminent danger. “The front brake was not working and the rear brake had reached the wear limit,” the police said.
