Washington – A 14-year-old schoolgirl of Indian origin has been missing for the past three weeks in the US state of Arkansas. Police suggest that the girl may have left home fearing that her father would lose his job and leave the US due to mass layoffs in the tech sector. The missing girl is Tanvi Marupalli from Conway. The police said that Tanvi was last seen in the area on January 17, who went to school by bus.
Tanvi’s parents said the family, who have been living legally in the US for years, are now caught up in immigration laws trying to get US citizenship. Tanvi’s father Pawan Roy, a tech company employee, is likely to lose his job. Mother Sridevi has once more applied for a dependent visa following returning to India following losing her job.
Tanvi had asked Pawan what he would do if he lost his father’s work visa. Father Pawan also said that he had told the child that in that case he would have to return to India. It was a big shock for Tanvi to know that she would have to return to India. I am not here. She had asked him why he was returning to India. Conway police believe that Tanvi left home because of such concerns. The family has announced a $5,000 reward for information regarding Tanvi and is waiting with prayers.
