The Undersecretary of Justice, Jaime Gajardo, limited the number of people missing during the fires in the Valparaíso Region, and pointed out that currently there are only 14 complaints for alleged misfortune.

Once the fire emergency ended, the removal of bodies began as well as reports of missing persons at the site of the event.

Undersecretary Garjardo explained that “the institutions in charge of this are the Public Ministry, Carabineros and the Investigative Police, and establishes collaborating institutions, such as the Ministry of Justice, through the Undersecretariat and the National Service for Minors, the Gendarmerie and the Legal Medical Service. “Those are the only institutions that participate in the process of searching for people, and that is why it is so relevant, because this is a mandate of the law and this is how this procedure is established.”

“And, in that sense, all these institutions received a total of 66 reports of missing persons; Of the total, today we only have 14 left to clarify,” the authority reported.

Likewise, he pointed out that of these 66 complaints, “there are people that we have found alive and there are others that we have unfortunately found in the Legal Medical Service.”

Meanwhile, regarding the latest balance of fatalities from the accidents, the SML indicated that no more deaths have been recorded, so the number remains at 131 deaths, of which 38 have already been identified, and 20 bodies have already been identified. They have been delivered.
