14” MacBook Pro with M3 Max chip supports High Power Mode

A Apple expanded the availability of High Power Mode (or High Power Mode) for the new 14-inch MacBook Pro, released just over a week ago. The option, however, is only available on machines equipped with the chip M3 Max.

In your review of the new computer, Jason Snelleditor-in-chief of Six Colors, noted that enabling High Power Mode resulted in an increase in fan noise. This, however, did not significantly impact the laptop’s performance in its tests.

With the exception of using some CPU-intensive tasks in High Power Mode, the MacBook Pro’s fans were quiet or, at heavier loads, audible but not annoying. However, if you tax the system enough in High Power Mode, your laptop will feel more like a hairdryer.

Previously restricted to the 16″ MacBook Pro with the M1 Max and M2 Max chips, this mode is designed to improve the laptop’s performance during demanding workloads, such as color grading in 8K videos.

In this article, we provide instructions on how to enable High Power Mode in macOS Ventura 13 and later versions.

In short: just open System Preferences and click on “Battery”. Then, go to “Battery” or “Power” (in the sidebar) and, in the drop-down menu titled “Power Mode”, select “High Power Mode”. ????
