Washington – The FBI conducted a 13-hour raid on US President Joe Biden’s residence in Wilmington and seized official confidential documents. These are official documents from 2009–16, when Biden was vice president. Biden and his wife were on a weekend vacation in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, when the raid took place. Some secret documents were recovered from the Penn Biden Center in Washington DC on November 2. With this, the number of seized secret documents has increased to 18.
According to US law, all official documents must be returned immediately after the incumbent leaves office. The raid was part of an investigation by the law department following allegations of irresponsible storage of them in private residences and elsewhere.
Last week, US Attorney General Merrick B. Garland appointed Robert Hurn as special counsel.
The seizure of former President Donald Trump’s official documents kept at his Maralago residence in Florida caused a huge controversy. The discovery of confidential documents from the residence of Biden, who has criticized Trump’s irresponsible actions, will make Biden, who is about to run again in the presidential election, tired.
His personal lawyer, Bob Bohr, said the president would cooperate fully with the investigation. He said that there was no lapse in the handling of official secret documents and this will be clarified in the investigation.
