Monica Stapp is heading to run women’s football in Saudi Arabia
The Saudi Football Association officially announced today, Monday, that the period that German Monica Stapp spent as coach of the women’s national team was satisfied, and that Finnish Rosa Lappi Seppala would be appointed in her place.
The Football Association assigned Stabb to assume responsibility for developing the women’s football system and establishing a structure for national teams, Sunni groups, and local championships, following working during the past year and a half to establish the first Saudi women’s team.
As for Seppala, the contract with her came following she worked with several Finnish teams, in addition to her work as a lecturer for training courses approved by the European Football Association, and as a coach for the Finland U-23 team and the Honka team in the Finnish Premier League, in addition to her assumption of the position of assistant coach of the first Finnish national team, following obtaining a degree. And regarding her period as a player, Seppala won eight Finnish league championships and five cup championships during her 13 years with the Finnish Helsinki team, and she also played with Anderlecht of Belgium, the American Miami Gladiers, and the Italian Milan, before retiring in 2005.
