They had previously completed intensive basic training in their own fire department. Things got particularly hot, especially on the first day of training. The program included fire extinguishing exercises with open fires.
“Whether it’s the correct operation of a hand-held fire extinguisher, an interior attack, an extinguishing attack using an extension ladder, a traffic accident or dangerous substances and dangers at the scene – the spectrum of a firefighter on duty is wide-ranging. This is exactly what requires intensive training so that every move can be carried out in an emergency fits perfectly,” says Norbert Paulusberger, responsible for training the Ried district fire department.
“Congratulations and good luck for future tasks in our own fire brigade to all new fire brigades,” said district fire brigade commander Jürgen Hell at the ceremonial closing ceremony. Hell also thanked the Armed Forces’ 13th Panzergrenadier Battalion for providing the area and supporting it. “This lived collaboration and camaraderie is unique and connects us,” said Hell.
