Commander of the Army Strategic Reserves Command (Pangkostrad) Lieutenant General TNI Muhammad Saleh Mustafa officially opened the 2024 Pangkostrad Cup Open Table Tennis Championship at the Jakarta State University (UNJ) Sports Building, Rawamangun, Jakarta, Friday (2/8).
This championship was held to welcome the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia and the participation of Kostrad to support the development of table tennis athletes. This event took place from 2 to 5 August 2024, and was attended by participants from the TNI, Polri, and the general public with a total number of participants of 1,277 athletes.
They will compete for a total prize of Rp 235 million. In his speech, Saleh Mustafa hoped that this championship could produce strong and reliable table tennis athletes, and be able to achieve at the national and international levels. He also appreciated the spirit and enthusiasm of the participants.
“The 2024 Pangkostrad Cup open table tennis championship, in addition to improving achievements, is also expected to produce young table tennis players and become a benchmark for table tennis development in the country,” he said in an official statement received by Media Indonesia, Friday (2/8).
Saleh Mustafa also emphasized that this championship is a means of fostering friendship between figures, the TNI-Polri, the Ministry, and table tennis enthusiasts, which can strengthen the unity of the TNI and the people.
“It is our collective obligation to always promote table tennis, in order to foster enthusiasm and motivation in national and state life, and to improve sporting achievements as a form of love for the homeland,” he stressed.

He certainly hopes that through this activity, first of all, I am very sure that coaching must be sustainable, that’s why I said earlier that the Pangkostrad Cup will be held annually, then coaching, in addition to being sustainable, the sports management system must be developed, that’s why we must unite the table tennis community in Indonesia to jointly promote table tennis again.
“The essence of sports is togetherness. It is the key to achieving the best results,” concluded Pangkostrad.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the 2024 Pangkostrad Cup Open Table Tennis Championship Committee, Brigadier General Putra Widyawinaya, revealed that 1,277 people took part. The competition covers various age categories and groups, providing an opportunity for young athletes to members of the TNI and Polri to show off their skills.
With such a large number of participants, this championship is expected to be a prestigious event that not only hones the abilities of athletes. But also strengthens unity and togetherness among the community and security forces. (I-2)
