2024 National Women’s Softball Championship Cup kicks off in Xi’an
West China News (Reporter Lan Xunge) On the evening of September 2, the 2024 National Women’s Softball Championship Cup kicked off at the Huyi Campus of Xi’an Institute of Physical Education. This event is one of the three major annual events of the Chinese Softball Association. More than 350 athletes from 12 teams from Beijing, Tianjin, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Henan and other places gathered in Xi’an to compete in 50 fierce matches in 9 days. The champion will be decided on September 10.
The event is co-sponsored by the Chinese Softball Association and the Shaanxi Provincial Sports Bureau, and hosted by the Shaanxi Provincial Handball, Hockey, Baseball and Softball Sports Management Center, Xi’an Sports University, Xi’an Sports Bureau, and Huyi District People’s Government. Following the 14th National Games, the 2024 National Women’s Softball Championship Cup will be held in Xi’an. This is the first time that the National Women’s Softball Championship Cup has come to Shaanxi, and it is another important national event undertaken by the Xi’an Sports University softball professional field.

In the first match after the opening ceremony, the opening match between Shaanxi and Henan was particularly eye-catching. In the end, Shaanxi defeated Henan 11 to 4 and won a good start. Li Xintian, 17 years old this year, served as the center fielder and outfielder of the Shaanxi team in this competition. From its establishment to today’s development, the Shaanxi Provincial Women’s Softball Team has been receiving continuous attention from the Chinese Softball Association and national softball technical officials. It is worth mentioning that the number of people participating in baseball and softball in Shaanxi has increased year by year, especially among primary and secondary school students.
