12 departments placed in orange vigilance

Twelve departments in central France and Île-de-France have been placed on orange alert while the whole country is affected by stormy disturbances.

The weather is unstable and a large part of the French territory is threatened by thunderstorms on Monday. Twelve departments are thus placed in orange vigilance by Meteo-France. It’s regarding Loiretfrom Cherof the’Oiseof the’aisne as well as all the departments of Île-de-France: Paristhe Seine et Marnethem Yvelinesl’Essonethem Hauts-de-Seinethe Seine-Saint-Denisthe Val de Marne and the Val d’Oise.

“These storms will give marked temporary precipitation between 10 and 20mm, even 40mm in places, hail and marked electrical activity”, writes the meteorological institute in its bulletin.

Much of the country on yellow alert

In these departments, thunderstorms are expected at the end of the day, between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. “It is above all the risk of locally violent gusts which requires particular vigilance”, writes Météo-France. Locally, gusts of wind can reach 100 km/h.

The weather of this Monday is marked by the passage of a stormy disturbance over the whole territory. Many other departments are placed on yellow alert.
