117 jobs lost in Tréfimétaux, a few kilometers from the Belgian border

The site is located a few kilometers from the Belgian border and the town of Beauraing (province of Namur), we learned Tuesday from the management.

The signing of this “majority collective agreement” took place on Monday between the management of Tréfimétaux and the representative trade union organizations (CFDT and CFE-CGC) within the company, the company said in a press release.

Among the main support measures: a “senior redeployment leave” (pre-retirement) of 48 months, a “classic” redeployment leave extended to 15 months and to 18 months for vulnerable employees or even “various back-to-work support.

A “sense of responsibility”

The signing of this agreement, “which will be implemented following validation by the labor administration”, demonstrates “the sense of responsibility of all the social partners”, estimated the management.

A 100% subsidiary of the multinational group of Italian origin KME, which specializes in the manufacture of copper products, Tréfimétaux currently employs 254 people in France, including 160 at its Ardennes site.

With this project, the plant will only keep its foundry and will cease its activities related to the production of copper tubes intended mainly to be used as pipes for the building industry.

Tréfimétaux justified this reorganization in January by its economic difficulties, with “extremely negative results of nearly 11 million euros in losses per year in recent years”.
