Dengue fever cases are still rising nationwide, especially in the northern and central regions.
According to regional statistics recently compiled by the Ministry of Health, there have been 314,271 dengue cases and 115 deaths across the country from the beginning of 2022 to now.
In recent months, the number of people infected with dengue continues to rise across the country, especially in the northern and central regions.
The causes of this situation are thought to be periodic epidemics of dengue fever, the development of mosquitoes that transmit disease while current weather conditions are favorable to caterpillars, rapid urbanization, and people’s movement following the COVID-19 epidemic.
The Ministry of Health forecasts that the situation of dengue fever will continue to be complicated and the number of cases will tend to increase in the future.
In response, the Ministry of Health requested that all households cooperate with the health sector to immediately launch a campaign to kill the larvae in order to prevent the spread and prolongation of the plague. In endemic and dangerous areas, inspect and monitor larva breeding tanks, water containers, items, waste, and mosquito breeding grounds.
Local health authorities also need to closely monitor the thorough response to the dengue outbreak. Organize chemical spraying on 100% of households in the outbreak area. Chemical substances are sprayed in an accurate way, and the vector index before and following spraying is evaluated to have a specific spray index. Identify high-risk areas to organize active application of pesticides.
At the same time, hospitals need to review and coordinate patient admission, screening and triage processes, establish treatment plans, and support sub-steps to avoid overcrowding.
